While attending the Rhode Island School of Design, Jarrett had the opportunity to focus on strengthening his skills.  While he hated the mandatory courses at first, it was those drawing and painting courses that were integral to Jarrett's growth as an artist.  His work grew tremendously after he painted master copies of paintings by El Greco and John Singer Sargent.  The style in which Jarrett works today was developed when he combined his love for creating characters and his newfound knowledge of painting.
